Senior Site Reliability Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help keep Dentally safe, secure and fast. You will help to find and fix performance and security issues before they impact our customers, while playing a major role in the continued evolution of software delivery and incident management capabilities

About you

You are highly self motivated and can work independently or partner closely with other engineers on a project. You are excited about building and maintaining high performing, scalable products and want to ensure we offer the best possible experience to our users. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills. You enjoy solving problems and like to challenge yourself by quickly identifying and mitigating an issue before moving on to the next one. You have experience in working closely with third party providers, engineering teams and business stakeholders to build highly scalable end-to-end applications.

What you'll be doing

  • Improving the reliability of Dentally as we scale
  • Creating and maintaining software, tooling and alerting frameworks to improve the reliability of our production systems
  • Proactively addressing application and database performance problems
  • Positively impacting customer satisfaction through the continual improvement of software delivery and incident management capabilities
  • Maintaining documentation and "runbooks"
  • Conducting post-incident reviews and implementing the findings of such to continually improve
  • Leading on the creation of on-call rotations and processes
  • Educating, training and promoting our culture of ownership to help our engineering teams better understand how their changes may impact production performance
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of our software delivery frameworks

Your technical skills

  • Senior-level engineer with 5+ years of experience
  • A proven track record of improving application stability and performance
  • A proven track recording of working with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Heroku or Microsoft Azure
  • Proven experience and appreciation of IaC (Infrastructure-as-Code) practices
  • Experience working across DevSecOps pipelines and tooling
  • Experience of working with large production data sets
  • A good understanding of Ruby and Ruby on Rails
